Jeett is an Indian national, born on the 17th of April, 1964 and is a typical Arian, very confident, aggressive and a born leader. He is single and has married the rigors of this trying profession. He has a towering appearance, which comes naturally to him as he is from a Punjabi ethnicity. He has a very good command over English, Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi and converses a bit in Russian as well. He loves music & dance, watches sports and plays most of the games. Books & places always intrigued him since his childhood and he keeps himself updated with the new technology.

Jeett is based in Bombay & in the Tricity [Chandigarh/Mohali/Panchkula], Punjab and has their primary office in London. They are producing various content like Web Features, Web Series, Documentaries, and Shorts etc. in various languages like English, Hindi, and Punjabi. He loves collaborating with Independent Content Creators and loves making Intriguing Content like Suspense, Murder Mysteries, Supernatural, Paranormal, Horror, Thrillers etc.

Earlier Life

At an early age, Jeett decided to leave the playground, the classroom and joined the enchanting World of Cinema. He came from a non-film background as a starry eyed teenager, he was not just smitten by the glitterati & hyper blown dreams of the silver screen but more by the intrigue of this medium, by the captivating element of a film and by the reach and strength a movie has to convey through it to the world.

With over 41 years of experience, he has made significant contributions as an actor, director, producer, writer, editor, and distributor. Throughout his four-decade-long journey, Jeett has shown unwavering dedication and determination in pursuing his dreams, excelling in various facets of the industry.

As a director, Jeett Matharu has successfully helmed three bilingual full-length feature films, which have been released worldwide in different languages. These films have not only received critical acclaim but have also been showered with awards and recognition from audiences across the globe. In addition to his directorial ventures, Jeett has also produced and directed three films for PTC BOX OFFICE, further solidifying his position as a proficient and talented filmmaker.

Jeett’s involvement in the film industry extends beyond directing and producing. He has showcased his acting skills in five films, leaving a lasting impression in both Hindi and Punjabi cinema. Furthermore, in May 2023, Jeett embarked on a new venture by entering the realm of overseas film distribution in collaboration with his partner, Suresh Varsani. They made headlines by distributing “The Kerala Story,” a highly controversial Hindi feature film, expanding their distribution network to encompass regions such as United Kingdom, the Middle East, and North America.

Their film “Woman From The East” was screened at the London Asian Film Festival, PIFF & IFFSA in Toronto, and SAFF in Vancouver.

Sikka

“Sikka” too was screened at the PIFF & IFFSA in Toronto & also won the Best Feature Film Award at the VISAFF in Vancouver. “Sikka” was released across North India theatrically.

In the recent past, Jeett has Directed 3 [three] acclaimed, nominated & award winning Short Films for PTC Punjabi for their PTC Box Office Film slot – “Rabb Raakhaa”, won the award for the Best Thriller Film at the PTC Digital Film Award 2020 and also won the award for Best Editing. “Majboor” was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress & and finally “Punjab”, for which Jeett was nominated as the Best Actor, the film was well appreciated and talked about.

Apart from being the Creative Head of two Asian Television Channels, he has directed almost 500 Episodes for TV, which includes Fiction, Non-Fiction, Religious, Music based, Interview based, Anchor based and many more. He also has the honor of being one of the ex-members on the Advisory Board of PIFF & IFFSA in Toronto.
